The Lancaster, NY Historical Society was incorporated on April 27, 1979
Our Bylaws state we exist for the following purpose:
- Discovery, collection and display of the significant materials that illustrate or demonstrate Lancaster’s heritage
- Cooperation with other agencies with similar goals
- Dissemination of historical information through programs, lectures, demonstrations, etc.
- Marking historical buildings, sites, trails, etc. and encouraging such activities by other appropriate entities

The Lancaster Historical Society has no relationship with the Village of Lancaster Historic Preservation Commission. If you have questions regarding planned alterations to your home or business within the Historic Districts of the Village please contact the Lancaster Village Clerk at 716-683-2105 or the Town of Lancaster Building Department at 716-684-4171
